Job Overview: The Account Manager is responsible for managing client programs and projects from conception to planning to execution and has the ability to conceive, sell and execute high-impact public relations and marketing programs for business-to-business and business-to-consumer clients in a variety of industries. The account manager will ensure positive client relationships, ensure the quality of work and program results, and maintain established billing/profit goals. Prerequisite skills include the effective and appropriate delegation and management of copywriting, research, clerical/production needs, and creative or art direction, as well as superior planning, writing, client relations, media relations, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities:
- managing a portfolio of client accounts
- supporting the president and senior account managers on client accounts as needed
- researching, planning, proposing, and managing integrated marketing communication programs
- managing programs and projects such as the creation and production of marketing materials; writing, proofreading, and editing stories, newsletters, and other printed materials for clients; coordinating client events; executing other public relations, marketing, advertising, and events for clients such as social media writing/posting, blogging, and news releases
- estimating and monitoring internal and external costs, controlling the budget and ensuring accurate billing
- maintaining the short- and long-term growth and profitability of existing accounts
- contributing to the acquisition of new accounts and participating in monthly account management meetings
- developing and maintaining media relationships with editors and journalists in local, regional, national, and trade publications as well as pitching stories on behalf of clients
- tracking and reporting on public relations and marketing programs for clients, including impact of website traffic, media relations, etc., and recommending ways to enhance visibility in the target market
- leading regular (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) client status meetings and internal team meetings as needed
- overseeing account coordinators and creative team members to deliver timely, successful projects and programs
- mentoring junior team members to learn processes and providing account support
- traveling to client and client-customer locations for meetings, events, conferences, editorial interviews, and visits locally and nationally as needed
