Our client is searching for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant who can work 20-30 hours per week initially. The law firm, located on Daniel Island, focuses on family law, tax controversy, and alcohol licensing. The owner of the law firm is searching for someone who is dependable, responsible, and professional. She requires someone who values efficiency, attention to detail, organization, and can problem-solve independently. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow with the firm.


  • Prepare affidavits, legal correspondence, pleadings, appeals, and other documents
  • Organize and maintain documents in a paper and electronic filing system
  • Meet with clients, witnesses, and other professionals to discuss case details
  • File pleadings with court clerk via mail or occasionally via hand delivery
  • Serve pleadings on opposing parties or their counsel
  • Coordinate the service of pleadings with process servers or sheriff's departments
  • Serve subpoenas
  • Assist clients with preparing financial declarations
  • Assist with discovery
  • Help prepare for trial by organizing exhibits, trial binders, and assisting with other tasks as needed
  • Communicate with clients, attorneys, government personnel, and court staff via email and telephone
  • Conduct legal and non-legal research
  • Manage law office activities, including assisting with potential new client intake, onboarding new clients, delivering closed client files, archiving electronic files, monitoring office supplies, and managing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Ensure all clients receive exceptional service
  • Keep the office clean and presentable (vacuum, dust, clean bathroom, etc)
  • Assist the attorney with time, office, and client management


The Paralegal must be able to sit at a computer, move about the office, and use the phone daily. The Paralegal must have reliable transportation. Must be able to work independently in the office daily.

  • Legal Calendar knowledge, scheduling, correspondence, and file maintenance
  • Familiar with legal forms, pleadings, discovery, and court rules
  • Working knowledge of the court system, filing requirements, dockets, and court calendars
  • Paralegal certificate or min 5 years experience as a legal assistant
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, and SharePoint)
  • Microsoft Power Automate is preferred not required
  • Familiar with legal practice management software, document automation
