Our client is searching for an Operations Assistant to develop carrier relations and manage the existing business for their logistics company.


JOB SUMMARY

As an Operations Assistant, you will be responsible for developing carrier relations and managing the operational tasks of an existing business. Responsible for assisting with the tracking and scheduling of all shipments through transportation software. Must be organized and able to complete multiple tasks quickly and efficiently. Need to be able to work with a team and communicate clearly and quickly to solve problems. Responsible for communicating with our carrier partners and customers to set up, track and work through any issues that arise. Learn and understand the logistics industry and become experts on all aspects of the day-to-day operations required to ensure customers receive the highest level of service.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Booking and scheduling shipments with our carrier partners
  • Tracking shipments from start to finish
  • Resolving issues with drivers quickly and efficiently
  • Negotiating daily freight and shipping rates
  • Developing and maintaining carrier relationships
  • Communicating with customers, carriers, and brokers
  • Collaborating with team members in pursuit of the company's goals and objectives
  • Maintaining office organization and efficiency

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work at a computer and telephone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, walk, and move for extended periods of time.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Focus on customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Competitive nature with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
  • MS Office proficiency and related computer knowledge
  • Candidates must be able to learn and operate TMS systems and tracking software
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize, manage and execute all operations functions efficiently
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate technical requirements to both clients and carrier partners
  • Experience working in Logistics is preferred but not a required
